As we age, cell turnover slows down and dead cells and debris can build up on your skin. We need to eliminate these layers to reveal healthy, younger looking skin underneath.
Chemical peels are utilized to remove the buildup on our skin, promote cellular turnover, and restore a healthy glow. These peels are used to treat photodamage to the skin, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, blemishes, uneven skin tone, and dullness.
Rejuvenate MKE offers several types of chemical peels, depending on your needs and concerns. We can work with you to help choose which is right for you.

See below for some answers to our frequently asked questions about peels.
What should you expect at your visit?
Your provider will first perform a free consultation with you, which will include a review of your medical history and an assessment of your skin. Together, your provider will work with you to provide you with a customized treatment plan.
Your skin will be cleansed and the peel will be applied in multiple steps and in layers. Your provider will continually assess your comfort level and your skin’s reaction to the peel. Then, the peel will be removed and an aftercare treatment, such as sunscreen, will be applied.
How should you prepare for your treatment?
When you book your appointment, you will receive an intake questionnaire and clinic policy information. You should complete this paperwork before your treatment, as your injector will review it with you at the time of your service.
You should come to your appointment with a clean, dry face. If you are wearing makeup, you will be required to remove it.
You should stop using certain skincare products for at least 48 hours before your peel. These include products containing: Retin-A, vitamin A, Adapalene, Differin, Tretinoin, Tazorac, Retinoids or Retinols.
You should avoid using clay masks, scrubs, or exfoliators for at least 48 hours before your treatment.
You should avoid self-tanning agents for at least 48 hours before your treatment.
You should not have facial hair waxed or lasered 48 hours prior to each peel treatment. You should avoid facial hair shaving 8 hours prior to your treatment.
What should you expect post-treatment?
Rejuvenate MKE has several recommendations for both immediately after your treatment, and over the next 5-7 days (depending on the chemical peel), including:
- It is recommended that you do not wear makeup for at least 4 hours after your treatment
- Avoid exercise (sweating) for at least 4 hours after your treatment
- Avoid use of steam or saunas for 8 hours after your treatment
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 5-7 days after your peel, until any redness or peeling has resolved. You should wear sun protective clothing such as a hat as well as sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher
- Avoid the use of retinoid or retinol containing products including but not limited to tretinoin, vitamin A, or AlphaRet Overnight Cream for 7 days after your peel
- Avoid potentially irritating skin agents such as masks or exfoliating products that may contain alpha hydroxy acids (i.e. glycolic and lactic acids) or beta hydroxy acids (i.e. salicylic acid) for 7 days after your peel
- Do not wax facial hair for 7 days after your treatment
This list is not all inclusive. You will be provided with a complete list of post-treatment instructions, and your provider will review these with you.
When can I expect to see results?
You will start seeing results immediately to one week after your chemical peel. Maximum results will be obtained after three chemical peels, spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart (for The Glow Up Peel or VI peels) or every 7-14 days (for the BioRePeelCl3 BLUE or GOLD).
Who should not receive a chemical peel?
You may not be a good candidate if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in the chemical peel
- You are allergic to aspirin (salicylic acid)
- You have an open facial wound
- You currently have severe rosacea, severe acne vulgaris, lupus erythematous, facial warts, or an outbreak of eczema or psoriasis on the area to be treated
- You have a skin infection at the treatment site
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have sun or windburned skin
- You have used Roaccutane or Accutane in the past 12 months
