SkinPen® Precision Microneedling

Your provider will first perform a free consultation with you, which will include a review of your medical history and an assessment of your skin. Together, your provider will work with you to provide you with a customized treatment plan.

Your skin will be cleansed and a numbing cream will be applied. During the numbing process, if you choose to add PRP to your service, a blood sample will be taken and spun down in a centrifuge to obtain the platelet-rich plasma.

After your skin has been thoroughly numbed, your skin will be cleansed once more and your procedure will begin. The total length of visit is typically between 60-90 minutes, depending on the areas being treated.

When you book your appointment, you will receive an intake questionnaire and clinic policy information. You should complete this paperwork before your treatment, as your injector will review it with you at the time of your service.

You should come to your appointment with a clean, dry face. If you are wearing makeup, you will be required to remove it.

You should stop using certain skincare products for at least 48 hours before your peel. These include products containing: Retin-A, vitamin A, Adapalene, Differin, Tretinoin, Tazorac, Retinoids or Retinols.

You should avoid using clay masks, scrubs, or exfoliators for at least 48 hours before your treatment.

You should avoid use of self-tanning agents 48 hours before your treatment.

You should avoid direct sun exposure for 24 hours before your treatment.

If you have a history of cold sore outbreaks, it is recommended that you are prophylactically treated with an anti-viral agent to prevent an outbreak.

You should not have facial hair waxed or lasered 48 hours prior to each peel treatment. You should avoid facial hair shaving 8 hours prior to your treatment.

This treatment cannot be performed on areas of open sores or active breakouts.

Rejuvenate MKE has several recommendations for both immediately after your treatment, and over the next 48 hours, including:

• It is recommended that you do not wear makeup or sunscreen for the remainder of the day after your treatment.
• Avoid exercise (sweating) for at least 72 hours after your treatment
• Avoid use of steam or saunas for 72 hours after your treatment
• Avoid direct sun exposure for 48-72 hours. You should wear sun protective clothing such as a hat as well as sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher
• Avoid the use of retinoid or retinol containing products including but not limited to tretinoin, vitamin A, or AlphaRet Overnight Cream for 48 hours
• Avoid potentially irritating skin agents such as masks or exfoliating products that may contain alpha hydroxy acids (i.e. glycolic and lactic acids) or beta hydroxy acids (i.e. salicylic acid) for 48 hours after your treatment
• Do not wax facial hair for 48 hours after your treatment

This list is not all inclusive. You will be provided with a complete list of post-treatment instructions, and your provider will review these with you.

You will start seeing results immediately to one week after your microneedling session. Maximum results will be obtained after three treatments, spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart.

You may not be a good candidate if:

• You are allergic to the topical anesthetic cream or stainless steel
• You have an open wound, sores, or irritation of the treatment site
• You have active skin cancer at the treatment site
• You have a skin infection at the treatment site
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• You have sun or windburned skin
• You have used Roaccutane or Accutane in the past 6 months
• You have a bleeding or clotting disorder
